Baking the burgers saves a lot of time, stress, and mess.
Ground meat (e.g. beef, turkey, pork-beef blend)
Dried onions
Black pepper
Dried Parsley
Worcestershire sauce as a marinade, if desired
Your choice of toppings (ideas below)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine ingredients. Either make patties, or press a layer of meat into the bottom of a baking dish (a layer up to 1 inch thick), covering entire bottom of pan. You’ll want to choose a dish size that will suit the amount of meat you are cooking. Bake the burger meat to desired doneness (flattening once or twice with a spatula during cooking). Unless you chose patties, slice the meat into squares. If desired, add cheese slices and return to oven until cheese is sufficiently melted. Serve on plates with your favorite toppings or choose from the topping combinations below. Serve with or without buns.
Styles Ideas:
Ragin’ Burgers:
Use pepper-jack cheese on the burgers. Sautee multi-color bell pepper strips and yellow onion in olive oil. When soft, add buffalo wing sauce and heat until sauce is hot. Pour over burgers. Serve with hot sauce for added kick.
Bacon Avocado Burgers:
Serve topped with fresh, mashed avocado; strips or crumbles of warm bacon; and a slice of tomato.
Mushroom Swiss Burgers:
Use soft Swiss cheese on the burgers and top with sautéed Portabella mushrooms.
Barbecue Pit Burgers:
Instead of cheese, brush barbecue sauce over the burgers and return to oven until sauce is caramelized. Pull from over and top with crispy fried onions. Dill pickle slices can also be added. Optional: After sauce is caramelized, burgers can be topped with a cheese such as Monterey jack or cheddar, and returned to oven until cheese is melted.
